Local initiatives focusing on sustainable natural resources management and sustainable human resource development are implemented in a community participatory mode and in partnership with the locally present resource institutions including different departments of the State Government.

Among the community participatory initiatives, the Sustainable Learning Centre(SLC link), an after-school facility for the children in the 11-13 years mould them in to environmentally conscious, socially responsible and economically productive individuals. Health, hygiene, nutrition, skills for life and livelihood are part of the programmes implemented for sustainable human development
